November 15, 2009 : Beauty Inside and Out: Panel Discussion and Spa Treats at Slope Suds

Slope Suds has moved to it new digs, which was just voted the best place to improve your look in Park Slope by Time Out NY!  Over champagne and healthy treats, join us for a panel discussion with a phenomenal group of women experts! We'll explore issues of beauty, inside and out, with a dermatologist, hair stylist, fitness expert, nutritionist and personal style consultant.

Time :  6:30pm to 9pm

Darcey Howard, is the Chief Style Officer and Founder LifeStyled. With years of brand marketing experience at Nordstrom, Seattle's Best Coffee and Eddie Bauer, and a devastatingly sharp sense of what looks and feels good she is more than just your every day style maven. Blending marketing know how and stylish sensibilities, Darcey has developed a practical approach to personal branding through appearance. LifeStyled is her way of bringing that approach to the world.


Fran E. Cook-Bolden, M.D., is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology, which means she is a board-certified dermatologist. Dr. Cook-Bolden specializes in the practice of dermatology and dermatologic surgery, cosmetic and laser surgery, and is the Director of the Skin Specialty Group and the Ethnic Skin Specialty Group Dr. Cook-Bolden participates in cutting edge research. She lectures regularly at local, national, and international conferences. She maintains several professional affiliations, including an appointment to the board of The Dermatologic Society of Greater New York, and is currently an assistant clinical professor of dermatology at Columbia University in New York. She is the co-author of BEAUTIFUL SKIN OF COLOR: A Comprehensive guide to Asian, Olive and Dark Skin.

Frances Darnell is a certified Pilates Instructor at Pilates Garage in Park Slope, Brooklyn. She received her certification as an instructor from the Kane School of Core Integration in New York. She is certified in the Tupler Technique by Julie Tupler, RN. She is also certified in pre-natal and post-natal exercise by Debbi Goodman, MSPT. She was first introduced to Pilates at Sarah Lawrence College where she studied dance and nutrition. Frances continues to study under Bob Liekens at Power Pilates. Her classes are fun and challenging. She enjoys helping moms-to-be and new moms reach their goals in health and fitness.

Lisa Cummings, Lisa Cummings, is the Founder of - She is a Holistic Health and Nutrition Counselor, board certified and an accredited member of the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. Lisa received her training to practice Health Counseling at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition with an advanced certification from Purchase College State University New York. She completed the Rose Program Teacher's Training with Natalia Rose and consults clients on the mechanics of detoxification and cleansing.

Vivi Lapidus, came to hairstyling and makeup artistry from the non-profit world.  She was looking for a way to express creativity in her career without giving up the feeling that her work genuinely improved people's lives. Vivi has trained with a variety of phenomenally talented people such as Michele Gargano from Toni and Guy, Becca Hellings at Robert Leonard Salon, Danyale owner of Good Hair (the only black salon in Seattle specializing in natural, ie. non-straight, styles) Ruth Roche from Rare, Cristiano Cora from Vidal Sassoon, and catalog and editorial hair wizard Paul Fields. She believes her work as a stylist has helped more people live higher quality lives than anything she did in non-profit. She is now in third year at Slope Suds, loves her job, and is enjoying watching the salon grow better every day! Her aesthetic is naturally based, fashion forward, current, and timeless.  "I want my clients to look like the best possible versions of themselves, and that version can change!
